The Road to Komyo Reiki Retreat: Pay Attention

PAY ATTENTION (Excerpt from Three Bowls: Vegetarian Recipes from an American Zen Buddhist Monastery)

Once we reach Beechar Lake, which sits on top of the last stretch of road to the monastery, after a narrow two-mile climb, forty-five minutes away from the main highway, I find myself letting out such a long, deep breath that you might think I’d been holding it the whole way up. This sigh springs from the pleasure of coming home.

The lake materializes in front of us when we come over the last tiny crest. If we aren’t careful and mindful that the road curves sharply to the left at the edge of the lake, it would be easy to drive straight into it. it’s as if the lake were a Zen welcoming mat, greeting us, and exhorting us to PAY ATTENTION! Our first Rinzai Zen lesson. -Myochi

Advance Reiki Class: Day 2

Started with Reiki Share: 15 minutes of Reiki Mahawashi sent me directly into white bright light! Some Moms appreciate as a gift for Mothers’ Day.

All students felt the power of 4th Shirushi (symbol). Explanation on how to use the 4th symbol would be never finished yet each reiki practitioner can use his/her own imagination in using this symbol.

Wow! How fortunate we are to be one with Great Bright Light! To be in it’s presence. I felt immense gratitude to be able to teach this class.

We ended the class with Meditation on Meet your Reiki Guide( William Rand’s). My Reiki Guide, Ba Ba appears always the same.

Followings are the comments of newly certified Advance reiki Practitioners:

Adv.Reiki class:

Although I had been initiated by a Reiki Master over 15 years ago, I had not been as active and diligent as I should have been with Reiki practice. This 2-Day Advanced Reiki Class with Thin Thin helped me realign my spiritual and mental spine that had been crying for help. How precious and gratifying to know that healing energy such as Reiki is readily available to those who wish to have it.  Anyone can teach the Reiki symbols (as long as you’ve gone through the Reiki Master training), but I strongly believe that it takes someone like Thin Thin to teach the true principles of Reiki – not in words but in deeds. Her non-judgemental, caring personality made all the difference in my understanding of the roles that Reiki practitioners play. Thank you. It was such a honor to receive this training from you.

Komyo Reiki Retreat and Komyo Reiki Shinpiden Class

People asked what is the difference of Komyo Reiki Retreat and regular Komyo Reiki Shinpiden class?

The first aspect is the Retreat: retreating from the routine( distance and space wise), activities, from the aspect of DOING. Focusing on self, on practice, on Reiki(Komyo Reiki) Practice. Nuturing yourself in Nature, surrounded by like minded people, in the presence of Hyakuten Sensei, in proximity and in introduction to Zen practice, enjoy having delicious vegetarian meals. Above all these, practising and learning Komyo Reiki in authentic Japanese monastery, is the essence of Komyo Reiki Retreat.

Komyo Reiki is a gateway to spiritual awakening and to Satori(Enlightenment).

This reiki retreat is to move ourselves closer to the gateway.

We will be waken up by natural sounds, gongs and bells of monastery. All retreat participants are invited to join morning meditation, Zen meditation Zazen, to share meal (s) with Sangha community of Dai Bosatsu Zendo( monks, nuns, residents and volunteers), using 3 bowls.

There will be an evening of Reiki share, Reiki offering to Sangha Community.

The agenda/ program of Retreat will be posted very soon.

Komyo Reiki Kai- Healing & Meditation Retreat, Reiki Masters

Following is a part of Preparation on Komyo Reiki Retreat:

During past weeks, while I am handling with questions, registrations related to KRR(Komyo Reiki Retreat), I would like to express my humble gratitude to the Reiki Masters who registered and sent the copy of their Reiki Master Certificates.

I am touched by their trust, their Reiki journey as well as their Reiki energy that I feel through these Reiki Master certificates.

On the other hand, the Zen Monastery, Dai bosatsu Zendo(where Komyo Reiki Retreat will be held) has its own requirements and guidelines to keep up with. I realized where I am walking on.

The agenda/ program of the retreat will be reviewed by Hyakuten Sensei ( Founder & Teacher of Komyo Reiki) as well as Zen Monastery, before approval of both parties.

Retreat participants start planning for their travel. Information requested on meals, preferences on room and commute, etc.

What’s an exciting period…

Advanced Reiki Class 1st DAY

Universe brought me all attendees safe and sound to the class.

Started with Reiki Share as there were non-Reiki Practitioners. Opening Group Meditation was so intense that Reiki practitioners and non-Reiki practitioners had hard time to separate, after the Reiki share.

Every participant noticed the difference in energy level before and after attunement.

There was one Reiki Master repeating and who wanted to know absolutely what symbols were used for attunement, as his vision during attunement in prior Master class was different. He was reminded that as Reiki Master, we all learnt how to do attunement. Some see colors (mostly purple) during attunement.

Noticed usual signs of Reiki Healing: increase in frequency of urinating, increase in hunger.

Privilege of having two Japanese Reiki Practitioners reciting Reiki Precepts in Japanese.

Practice feeling the Energy of each individual Reiki II symbols is fun & intrigueing for some.

Each participant brings lunch and share with others. Dishes were super healthy and delicious, respects Microbiotic except butternut squash soup.

Class ended with sending distant Reiki to people and goals.

Komyo Reiki: Reiki Lineage

General meaning of Lineage is The descendants of one individual, family tree, geneology, direct descent from a particular ancestor.

In some tradition, Lineage is the term who used to describe who initiated you. A ritual might or might not be needed to initiate someone or a group.

Reiki Lineage: is a Reiki family tree in lay people term, leading all the way back to the founder Mikao Usui.

Reiki lineage refers to the line of Reik Masters that leads to the student. For a healing system to be called Reiki and be recognized as such, the lineage must trace back to Mikao Usui.

Two main branches in Reiki World: Western Style & Japanese Style , both traced back to Mikao Usui.

Most of the Reiki people in the world were taught Western Style.

I am fortunate to learn and teach both Styles. My first steps into reiki was with Western Style. Then, I feel more synchronized  with Komyo Reiki, which encouraged Reiki Teacher/ practitioner to deepen an understanding of Reiki Ryoho and develope the inner growth. After years of Reiki practice, it unfolds that Reiki Ryoho and the (insight) wisdom goes hand in hand.

Reiki Lineage: Per Komyo Reiki Kai; By Lineage a Reiki practitioner is not noble. By lineage a Reiki practitioner is not superior. By lineage a Reiki practitioner is not ignoble. By lineage a Reiki practitioner is not inferior.

Per Komyo Reiki Kai, Your Reiki lineage does not make a good practitioner or a Teacher. ” Clothes do not make the man”, as the saying goes.

Komyo Reiki Retreat: Meditation

All teachers advise to meditate. What is the purpose of meditation?

We know the outer world of sensations and actions, but of our inner world of thoughts and feelings we know very little. The primary purpose of meditation is to become conscious of, and familiar with, our inner life. the ultimate purpose is to reach the source of life and consciousness.

Incidentally, practice of meditation affects deeply our character. We are slaves to what we do not know, of what we know we are masters. Whatever vice or weakness in ourselves we discover and understand its causes and its workings, we overcome it by the very knowing; the unconscious dissolves when brought into the conscious. The dissolution of the unconscious releases energy, the mind feels adequate and become quiet.
